We are working hard at Laureston house following our CQC report to get our standard back to Good, these are our breaches and how we are working to achieve these.

The provider had failed to do all that was reasonably practicable to make sure that people who use the service receive person-centred care that meets their needs and reflects their personal preferences.

  • We are working with families and residents to ensure care plans are more person centred and they meet the needs of the individual ensuring they are up to date and relevant.

The provider had failed to do all that was reasonably possible to mitigate risks to people's health and safety. Medicines were not always managed safely.

  • All health and safety certificates are now in place and this is now made clearer for management for when these are due and need replacing/updating.

  • Staffs have now undertaken more medication training and competency checks are now in place with the new auditing system.

The provider failed to consistently assess, monitor and improve the quality and safety of the services provided. The provider had failed to establish and operate effective systems and processes to ensure compliance with the requirements. The provider had failed to maintain an accurate and complete and contemporaneous record of people’s care including decisions taken in relation to the care provided.

  • An overhaul of our auditing system has now been taken place to include staff competency checks so management now has a well-documented oversight of the home.

  • Lots of environmental changes will be taking place over the next few months including new flooring, new windows and a garden patio extension.

  • An activities co-ordinator has been employed; this will help to bring more meaningful activities. Outside agencies will be booked once a month to help with giving a variety of activities for our residents.
